Jazz goes to church

"We came here to support these ladies because we all know that August belongs to them."

SHARPEVILLE.- The Sharpeville Ladies Jazz Club, in conjunction with Lekoa FM and the Sharpeville Christian Women’s League of the Uniting Reformed Church of South Africa (URCSA), hosted a fundraising event at the MT Funeral Hall in Tshepiso, Sharpeville over the weekend.

This fundraising event also marked the stylish conclusion of Women’s Month, with women from all walks of life coming together to support this unique initiative.

In an interview with Sedibeng Ster, Aubrey Moopeloa stated that the main aim of this event was to raise funds for the church. Moopeloa also revealed that the two parties, Sharpeville Ladies Jazz Club and URCSA, plan to collaborate closely in the future.

“This is a pioneering initiative – the first of its kind for jazz to partner with a church. We came here to support these ladies because we all know that August belongs to them, and I must say we enjoyed every moment.

“This is something I hope can happen in our community – organizations supporting churches. This is just the beginning of good things to come, and hats off to these ladies of the Sharpeville Ladies Jazz Club for partnering with this church,” he told Sedibeng Ster.

Moopeloa hailed the event as a great success, with members of the community showing their support for this initiative. Bona Sera, a Lekoa FM Jazz Presenter, was among the dignitaries who graced this fundraising event.
