New Sharpeville CPF ready to tackle crime

The new Sharpeville CPF committee is ready to fight against crime.

SHARPEVILLE. – A newly elected Community Policing Forum (CPF) executive committee working under the Sharpeville SAPS says they are ready to combat crime in their community by working together with the police.

The team says that they are aware of the challenges faced by the community living in Sharpeville and are ready to be watchdogs to ensure safer streets of Sharpeville.

“As the CPF we are ready to unite our community and the police in the fight against crime. Members of the community are very important when it comes to giving information about people breaking the law in their communities. If they collaborate with us and the police, crime will be a thing of the past in Sharpeville.”

TheV CPF Chairperson William Mohanoe said that they have many plans in the pipeline, including working with various stakeholders to help include young people in various activities that will take them away from negative things.

“Our youth also struggles a lot with drug addiction and this will be one of our focuses in getting them help because drugs is another factor which leads to criminal activities.”

Deputy Chairperson Thami Mvala said the new committee takes the watchdog role seriously.
“We will b the link between the police and our community. We have community patrollers who make sure that our streets are safe for residents. We patrol during the day and night.”

The team says that they are the best candidates to help in the scourge of crime as they have experienced the effects of crime firsthand as they live in the community. They also call on young people from the Sharpeville community to help in the fight against crime.
