Mautloa hails Jumpers Family Softball Tournament a success

The participating clubs were from as far as Pretoria, North West, Free State, and other provinces to support this initiative.

SEBOKENG.-  Phera Mautloa hailed Jumpers Family Softball Tournament held at Saul Tsotetsi Sports Complex in Zone 14, Sebokeng as a great success.

The tournament was in honour of softball legend, Mosious Motsapi who was gunned down last year. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Mautloa said he was overwhelmed by the support from the Sedibeng community. He told Sedibeng Ster Sport that it was humbling to see the whole Motsapi family come to support this initiative that was in honour of their fallen loved one.

Mosioua Motsapi was well-known in the softball industry as a player, coach, umpire, and administrator.

He represented Sotball South Africa on the international stage as a player, coach, and umpire. Mautloa said Motsapi has left behind a legacy that his family must be proud of. The tournament was sponsored by B3 Insurance, Blue Ribbon, and Ramotsedi Gathering among other sponsors.

The eight softball teams that took part in this Jumper Family Softball Tournament were Jumpers, Royal Softball Club, Free State, Palmridge, Flames, VUT, TUT, and North West. The tournament was divided into two streams A and B.

Flames were crowned Flames Softball Club crowned the tournament champions with the host, Jumpers finishing as the runners-up. VUT Softball Club came third.  The tournament was played in a round-robin format.

“We want to thank the Motsapi family for honouring our invitation and also giving us permission to host this tournament in honour of their beloved son, brother, and father. We were really humbled by their attendance on the day.

“It was emotional to see them sitting there the whole day watching the games in memory of Mosioua. We also like to thank our sponsors who made this event possible with their contribution and if it wasn’t for their generosity I don’t think this tournament could have been a success,” he concluded.
