Tshegetsanang and SSF Sports hosted Youth Day sporting activities

Former Bafana Bafana dreadlocks midfielder, Augustine Makalakalane was among the notable names who came to watch five-a-side soccer.

SHARPEVILLE.-  It was a hive of activities at Itsose Moedi Centre in Putswastene when Tshegetsanang Support Group which is registered as a Non-Profit Organisation (NPO) in conjunction with SSF Sports hosted sporting activities on Saturday.

These sporting activities formed part of celebrating Youth Day.

The sporting code that formed part of the day’s program were basketball, five-a-side soccer, netball, aerobics, and indigenous games. All the participants were served soup by the Methodist Church Of Sothern Africa.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Papi Mofokeng said that the event was meant to celebrate Youth Day without wearing school uniforms like many would do whenever they celebrate Youth Day. Giving a brief background of the center, Mofokeng said they specialize in helping elderly people.

“As the Tshegetsanang Support Group we help our community with many things, especially elderly people. We make their life easy by collecting their treatment at the clinics so that they can collect it here at the center unlike walking long distances and standing in long queues at clinics.

Today we decided to organize these games because we want to see everyone participating in sporting activities. We wanted to get rid of this culture of people who would drink wearing a school uniform in the name of Youth Day,” he told Sedibeng Ster Sport.
