Zoom Fibre gifted Palm Springs youth with food vouchers

Zoom Fibre together with Palm Springs councilor gifted a selected few child headed homes with food vouchers worth R10 000 on June 16.

PALM SPRINGS – For many months now, Zoom Fibre personnel have been seen digging trenches in the Vaal in an attempt to power up a million households with the internet.

And now, they are seen giving back to one of the kasis they worked in, Palm Springs, after realizing the need to donate to child-headed homes struggling to put food on the table.

On Friday, June 16, the Zoom Fibre team, together with area Councillor, Vusi Ramoshaba gifted dozens of young people with food parcels worth R10 000.

Tsholofelo Mmako who spoke on behalf of Zoom Fibre said “We have actively been installing prepaid fibre in the community of Palm Springs and while doing so Identified a need for help amongst the youth in the area. There are some holds hold where the youth have no choice but to be responsible for the household, we decided to help them out with some food vouchers.”

Mmako said the project was a success. “I’m grateful to have been afforded an opportunity to engage, advise and assist the youth of Palm Springs. I wish I could do more. With our planned initiatives for the rest of the year, I believe we can still provide more stepping stones for the youth with access to information, innovation and resources to better their lives,” she said.

Mmako said Zoom Fibre will be rolling out our free fibre to the school’s programme in their respective prepaid areas in hopes to assist with access to information.

“We have just started. We aim to make an impact, a contribution and put smiles on a face any chance we get,” she added.

Councillor Vusi Ramoshaba said the campaign is well received by his community.

“The project speaks directly to the disadvantaged people in our community. I, together with the entire community, are very excited and looking forward to working hand in hand with Zoom Fibre on more initiatives,” he said.

Ramoshaba added that “As a leader in my society, I will become a link between Zoom Fibre and the community to ensure a smooth partnership.”
