Vaal’s finest receives his first PSL medal

This Sharpeville-born youngster never disappointed in the few games he played since he was promoted to the Orlando Pirates senior team last month.

SEDIBENG.- Vaal’s finest, Relebogile Ratomo (17) received his first medals in a short space of time in top-flight football when Orlando Pirates were crowned the Nedbank Cup Champions on Saturday.

This was after they beat Sekhukhune United 2-1 in the exciting final to watch at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria on Saturday evening. Ratomo is one of the youngsters who was promoted to the PSL toward the end of the season.  In South African football it is not always a case for a greenhorn to settle down in a short space of time playing for a big team like Orlando Pirates.

Hats off to the young Ratomo who didn’t only defy the odds but goes down in history as one of the most talented players to wear Pirate’s black and white jersey from Vaal, following in the footsteps of Steve “Chippa” Lekoelea and Thabo Rakhale who were the club’s darling.

Pirates ended the season on a high note winning two trophies in one season, the Nedbank Cup and the MTN8. To add feathers to their hats, Pirates finished second place in the DStv Premiership log standing, second to Mamelodi Sundowns with their arch-rivals Kaizer Chiefs finishing fourth place.
