Police apprehend suspect with multiple weapons and drugs

Maxambela says that the suspect was arrested on the spot and detained at the Heidelberg police station.

HEIDELBERG. – Police on patrol duty in Heidelberg apprehended a suspect who was in possession of multiple dangerous weapons and drugs on Tuesday, 23 May.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Thembeka Maxambela states that while patrolling, the officers saw a suspicious vehicle and stopped it.

“Officers introduced themselves and asked to search the vehicle which had one occupant.  While searching the vehicle, police found a zip log bag of crystal meth, 1,4 kg of dagga, a panga, two knives, a pistol, and a pallet gun.”

Maxambela says that the suspect was arrested on the spot and detained at the Heidelberg police station.

“The suspect is due to appear at the Heidelberg Magistrate Court facing charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm and drugs.”

The Sedibeng District acting police commissioner Brigadier Mbangwa Nkhwashu applauded the officers for their diligent work.
