VANDERBIJLPARK. – The Gauteng Crime Prevention Wardens (CPW) have arrived in Sedibeng in their numbers. The wardens were welcomed in a parade carried out at the Isak Steyl Stadium on Wednesday, 24 May.

The CPW will work together with the South African Police Services (SAPS) and other law enforcement agencies to combat crime in Gauteng. The wardens will be deployed to crime hotspots in Sedibeng to eliminate crime, lawlessness, vandalism, and corruption.

The parade was graced by the Gauteng MEC for Community Safety Faith Mazibuko together with the Emfuleni Local Municipality Mayor Sipho Radebe and Sedibeng District Acting Police Commissioner Brigadier Mbangwa Nkhwashu.

Speaking during the Parade, Southern Corridor Director Pam Pule stated that Wardens are ready to flood and saturate all the policing precincts in Sedibeng District.

“Crime prevention is not only a priority in Gauteng, but it is a national priority. The wardens have been assigned to work at 12 police stations except for The Barrage and Vaal Marina. The wardens already started working and joined Operation Okae Molao on Saturday.”

Radebe gave words of encouragement to the newly deployed wardens.

“Stand tall, be proud of yourselves, and remember the families you come from. Remember this day because your families will be proud of you. You are the people that are carrying the hopes and aspirations of our municipality.”

Mazibuko says: “I want to reassure the communities of Emfuleni and Sedibeng as a whole that crime has no place anymore. We have young men and women who are going to fight crime in communities.”
