Two nabbed in Sicelo for dealing in drugs

Police spokesperson Captain Fikile Funda said the community alerted the police that the two are well-known in the area. 

MEYERTON. – An intelligence-driven operation carried out by the Sedibeng District task team on Monday, 22 May yielded positive results. This is after police nabbed two suspects in Sicelo on charges of possession and dealing drugs.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, police spokesperson Captain Fikile Funda said the community alerted the police that the two are well-known in the area.

“Police managed to seize dagga with an estimated street value of R5000 and crystal methanol worth an estimated R3000 along with an undisclosed amount of money suspected to have generated from criminal activity.”

The acting police commissioner of Sedibeng District, Brigadier Mbangwa Nkhwashu said: “There is still resistance from community members with the intent to protect these drug dealers. As we focus on measures to address drug issues in the area, we must deal with those selling drugs and suppress the market, ” he said.

Nkhwashu pleaded with the community to continue sharing information about drug dens and criminal activity in the area. He said that this would ensure a safer community for all.
