Nkhwashu urges community to join in the fight against crime

The Sedibeng District acting police Commissioner Brigadier Mbangwa Nkhwashu says it is important for the community to join police in the fight against crime.

MIDVAAL. -The Sedibeng District acting police Commissioner Brigadier Mbangwa Nkhwashu recently led the weekly installment of the community engagement Imbizo in Sicelo, Meyerton.

Nkhwashu was flanked by District management and Meyerton SAPS management. A team from Midvaal Local Municipality (MLM) was also in attendance.

Police spokesperson Constable Tlaleng Moloi reports that the meetings are held as an effort to enhance the active and meaningful participation of the community in the fight against crime and tighten the relationship between the police and the community.

Members of the community were allowed to engage in crime and policing concerns. The exercise seeks to find lasting solutions to crime and policing concerns in the respective policing area.

During the meeting, Nkhwashu urged the community to work together with the police and not protect criminals. He further made a commitment that all issues raised during the meeting would be dealt with.

“Police officers will account for their actions of non-service to the community. We will root out rotten potatoes within the ranks,” he said.

The community applauded the police for successes attained through various operations carried out in the vicinity. They further vowed to continue working with the police to combat crime in their area.
