VANDERBIJLPARK – Hundreds of 7de Laan fans from all over the Vaal, Sasolburg, and neighboring areas, gathered at Vaal Mall as early as 9 a.m. for the much-anticipated one-stop activation tour on Saturday, May, 6.
Soon as the entourage of actors from the Afrikaans telenovela entered the building, the mall was abuzz with whistles, unbearable screams, and cheers from the die-hard fans.
Actors such as Beàta Bena as “Shady” Vermeulen, Deirdre Wolhuter as Mariaan Welman, Dirk Stoltz as DeWet Basson, Duncan Johnson as Marvin Petersen among many others, formed part of the young and vibrant crew that graced the Vaal’s biggest shopping center.
Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, Nobuhle ‘Mimi’ Mahlasela said their visit was to show gratitude to the fans and show love.
“We are at Vaal Mall today, this is the many activations we’ve embarked on to meet the supporters of the show. We are doing the activations so that our viewers don’t just end up seeing us on TV, but also get to meet us in real life. This is also to express our gratitude for their support and love throughout the years”.
“We also want to remind people that what they watch is just a story played by real people. We just want to meet them face to face so that we don’t end up as these glorified individuals,” she said.
Speaking on the hundreds of fans who attended the activation, Mahlasela said it was manageable.
“The crowd was awesome and manageable. Our fan base is mostly in Cape Town, but seeing such massive crowds left us happy. Our show is not only an Afrikaans show, and the numbers that came out represented that diversity. We love our fans and we hope they continue with their support and watching the show,” she said.
Carla de Villiers-Malan, Marketing Manager said “Vaal Mall is hosting its month of magic and as part of the magic, we wanted to bring something to our customers that they can be related to and they love and we are very excited to host the cast of 7de Laan. We saw people come out in their numbers and it was so lovely to see our shoppers happy”.
Villiers-Malan there are many other spectacular shows they will be hosting as a continuation of the month of magic.
“We got some other shows that will be happening at the mall including hosting Uncle Jack Black on the 13 of May and in the afternoon, we will be hosting Li Lau the illusionist,” she said.
