Sebokeng Hospital celebrates a soccer tournament win

Sebokeng Hospital's soccer team is celebrating a massive win after they won the Vaal Funeral parlour winter games soccer tournament.

Sebokeng Hospital’s soccer team recently took part in Vaal Funeral Parlour’s winter games soccer tournament at Steel Park Sports Field in Vanderbijlpark. The games ran from the 27th of April 2023 till the 1st of May 2023.

The teams that took part in stream A are Parl Cemetery, Sebokeng Forensic Services, and Sebokeng Hospital. In stream B participants were Vaal Funeral Parlour, Evaton Clinic, Johan Heyns, and G4S.

Sebokeng Hospital’s spokesperson Lerato Sedulawesi says, “All the teams were playing to qualify for the semi-finals. The aim of the tournament is to build a mutual relationship between the Vaal public and private entities through an employee wellness program.

“It was a knockout tournament, only four teams progressed to the semi-finals on the 27th of April 2023. The first matches of the tournament progressed well although there wasn’t much enthusiasm shown by the teams during the first knockout phase of the tournament.”

Sedulawesi explains that the semi-final was played with enthusiasm which resulted in Sebokeng Hospital and Johan Heyns taking the lead to the Finals.

“The final battle between the two teams filled the atmosphere with both excitement and great anticipation as a trophy was up for grabs. Sebokeng Hospital was in full control of the entire match which resulted in them scoring 2 goals to 1 defeating Johan Heyns and winning the tournament.”

Sebokeng Hospital became champions of the tournament. Doctor Rasekgathi Moeta was named the man of the match and subsequently received a medal.

Admin and Support Supervisor and Sebokeng Hospital coach Lebohang Molise was very excited with the results.

“I enjoy coaching very much; it gives me a sense of responsibility and I feel privileged. I am also grateful for the support we received from all staff members, more especially our extinguished doctors.

“We want to encourage all employees to be part of sporting activities for us to grow as a hospital,” Molise concludes.
