"We call on all men to protect women and children as it's their duty".

EVATON.- The arm of the law goes to great lengths!

A 26-year-old man was recently found guilty of murder for stabbing his girlfriend to death in Extension 5 Evaton West last November.

It is said that on 12 November last year, the father of the accused went to the police and told the Station Commander that he had brought his son to the police station because he (his son) had told him that he had killed her girlfriend in their rented back room by stabbing her.

Police Spokesperson, Constable Thulisile Msibi said: “On 28 March 2023 Reginald Lebohang Radebe was found guilty of murder and sentenced to 15 years direct imprisonment after the father reported him for the murder of his girlfriend.”

Msibi said that Evaton Station Commander, Brigadier Sibuyi welcomed the sentencing and job well done by Evaton SAPS Detective Sergeant Seepe who made sure that no stone was left unturned during his investigation.

“Evaton SAPS arrested the suspect and carried out a diligent investigation that led to the 15-year direct imprisonment. The docket was allocated to a well-experienced Sergeant Seepe who managed to gather all the information needed before the suspect appeared at Palmridge Magistrate High Court,” Msibi said further adding that Brigadier Sibuyi and the management applauded the Investigating Officer (IO) for his efforts.

“The conviction will serve as a deterrent message to men as GBV has increased. We call on all men to protect women and children as it’s their duty”.
