Mamelodi Sundowns crowned PSL six time in a row

"To us, the league is not yet over".

SEDIBENG.- After being crowned the DStv Premiership champions for the sixth time in a row, Mamelodi Sundowns are now chasing the second CAF star.

With less than five games remaining, Sundowns has already been crowned the league champions. They were crowned the league champions after SuperSport drew against Chippa United.

All Sundowns’ remaining games will see PSL teams give them a ‘Guard of Honour’. Cape Town City was the first PSL team to give Sundowns the honour when these two sides played to a goalless draw in a midweek DStv Premiership fixture at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Tuesday evening.

SuperSport United was the only team that looked like they would challenge Sundowns at the top of the log until their draw against Chippa United.

Sundowns coach, Rhulani Mokwena said their next target is the CAF Tournament semi-final spot. The Brazilians finished at the top of their group in CAF with an impressive run humiliating one of the most decorated clubs in African football, Al Ahly.

“To us, the league is not yet over regardless we are now officially the league champions but this doesn’t mean we will relax. We will use every remaining game to start preparing for next season and also for CAF,” said Mokwena.
