Our football is bleeding but who cares anyway?

"He has no shame coming to our country and showing us his middle finger."

SEDIBENG.- It seems as if no one cares about the state of our national teams, particularly Bafana Bafana.

I don’t know how many times TOUCHLINE has to mention, that after a famous 1996 AFCON victory, Bafana Bafana has never achieved anything.

It seems no one cares about the state of our national teams, and TOUCHLINE blames SAFA for this kind of situation we find ourselves in at the moment. With all the resources we have but failed dismally as a football nation. For some reason, SAFA is holding on to Hugo Broos regardless of the results and the man continues to insult our intelligence. It is not a secret Broos has no respect for South African football at all and if he (Broos) was a local coach, SAFA could have shown him a door a long time ago.

His stay is long overdue taking into consideration his tendency to rubbish and insult South African football, coaches, and players. He has no shame coming to our country and showing us his middle finger as if he doing us a favour to coach Bafana Bafana.

However, many claim Broos is not a problem but all of us who are involved in South African football from the grassroots level to the top we need to do some introspection. This is what coach Ted Dumitru suggested long ago but his plea fell on SAFA’S deaf ears.

I so wish that coach Ted was still alive. He is turning his grave seeing what is happening with our football, especially our national teams. Coach Ted had a vision for the development of our football but those in power chose to close their ears when the truth is told.

May his soul rest in peace!

If we struggle against small countries such as Liberia which is ranked number 150 in the FIFA rankings then who else will we beat? As a country, we were supposed to be counted among the powerhouses of African football with all the resources we have.

The reality with South African football or SAFA is a lack of vision, to say the least. For example, there was talk about the 2022 Vision but we are still stuck in the same place for the past 20 years. When readmitted to the world sporting arena, there were a lot of expectations but it was forward and backward, especially with our football.

People don’t care about what is happening in the field of play as long as they are voted in the most powerful positions in our football. They will do everything to gain power even if they don’t deserve it. Those who supported them during the election campaign have been rewarded with positions even if they know nothing about their respective roles.

As a country, we are better than this and we all know that with all that we have as a football nation.
