NWU Vaal Ladies team through to Pirates Cup Last 4

I was pleased with our performance even though there is some area of our game we need to improve.

SEDIBENG.- NWU Vaal Ladies FC participated in the Annual Orlando Pirates U/21 Cup that is underway at Marks Park in Johannesburg.

At the time of going to print, this NWU Vaal Campus ladies’ team had played against University Of Johannesburg Ladies’ Team on Tuesday. These two institutions were battling out in the last four of the tournament. NWU Vaal Ladies Team is led by Precious Dhlamini who is a former player herself. Dhlamini has proved herself as one of the promising young female coaches after she obtained her coaching qualifications.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Dhlamini who at one stage was Sedibeng Ster Sports Star of The Year Finalist said reaching the last four of the tournament will go down as one of her achievements in her short coaching career. She told Sedibeng Ster Sport that the tournament is part of NWU Vaal Ladies team preparations for the Sasol Women League.

“We are using this tournament to see how ready we are with for the Sasol Women League which starts very soon. But I’m not complaining because reaching the last four shows how ready we are for the start of the league.

“The aim is to finish at a respectable position this season even if we can challenge for the league title. We must aim high because it is any coach’s dream to win the league. I might be young in this game but I think with the kind of players we have we can challenge for the league title, come the start of the league,” said Dhlamini.

Meanwhile, the NWU Vaal Men’s Team is also part of this Orlando Pirates Cup.
