EFF supports Zone 17 residents on clinic protest

"The cries of the people of Sebokeng will not be ignored in the presence of the vanguard."

SEBOKENG.- The EFF in Sedibeng has said that it notes, with sadness, the chaos that has been caused by the opening of the state-of-the-art Zone 17 clinic in Sebokeng.

On Friday the 3rd of March the Premier of the Province, Panyaza Lesufi was set to officially open the zone 17 Clinic. On the same day in the morning, the community around Zone 17 blockaded the road with stones and trees in an attempt to raise awareness that they have challenges to be addressed by Lesufi before the opening of the clinic.

“The community is not happy amongst other things with how recruitment processes unfolded and that there is raw sewer coming from the clinic. They also want direct answers from the premier on when will their water problem going to be resolved as they have been without water for more than eight days,” Isaac Khithika EFF, Sedibeng Regional Chairperson said.

The clinic was apparently unceremoniously opened amidst the dissatisfaction of the residents with the Lesufi not being seen near the clinic.

The EFF said that as an organization that is always on the side of the people of the Vaal, armed with correct tools of analysis the masses are never wrong and will visit the people of Zone 17.

“This visit is solely to take a mandate from them on what needs to be done under the prevailing circumstances. We will then use our representation in all spheres of government to correctly channel the mandate given to us to the correct offices and give feedback,” Khithika said.
