IN PICS: MEC Nkomo-Ralehoko brings health services to the people’s door step

Gauteng Health MEC Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko graced the Vaal region on Wednesday, February 8, in a campaign aimed at bringing health services to the people.

SEBOKENG – Her visit comes in the wake of growing health headaches in different clinics in the region.

Today, residents of Boitumelo filled Zone 12 clinic, demanding services following closure of their facility amid raging squabbles between nurses and the department over poor working conditions.

In a new twist, Johan deo clinic in Polokong was robbed on Tuesday by four African males who went off with ten computers, plasma TV, a boiler and two cellphones viz Nokia and Hisense.

Nkomo-Ralehoko visited several camps in the region including one in Boiketlong and a planned one in Sebokeng hostel.

The campaign is part addressing barriers of access to health services & improving the health outcomes of communities.

During her media drive to local media, the MEC touched on the mounting scourge of measles and the fact that Sedibeng currently has no confirmed cases.

However, she stated that other districts in the province have to date reported a total of 37 confirmed measles cases.

“Our biggest problems is having growing cases on children in the province pertaining measles and interestingly enough, there are no cases registered in Sedibeng. We want to prevent it hence we have said to teachers those children who didn’t take jabs for measles, they must get jabs and we are doing in that. We targeting a high number of schools we want to reach as them,” she said.
