Kiewit’s car sale landed Zama and accomplices in jail

The biggest double murder case sitting in Heidelberg Magistrate court, had on Monday, January 30, 2023, learnt of how a trio landed behind bars after trying to sell Kiewit’s Mokoena’s Kio Cerato.

Heidelberg – Shocking revelations were made by an investigating officer, Detective Seargent Gavin Banele Ndlovu, who took a stand during the bail bid of Zama Williams, an ex-lover of Vaal’s popular couple who went missing on the December 12, 2022 in Vanderbijlpark.

Mokoena and his eight-month pregnant partner Nokuphila Dladla, 29, were presumed kidnapped and ten days later, were found murdered and dumped in an open veld in Heidelberg.

According to officer Ndlovu, the bodies of the now famous couple following wide social media reports, were badly decomposed.

Williams, together with Shakespeare Sibanda, 32, and Sandile Khumalo, 32, appeared for the fourth time and in recent appearances, Sibanda and Khumalo had abandoned their bail applications.

Explaining the details of the case since the first investigation when the couple went missing, Ndlovu said many teams were formed to make sure that the couple is found.

“We worked tirelessly and followed every lead we can get. The two men in the box were first discovered when they were seen on cctv footage of a popular petrol station in Heidelberg. Swift follow up was made and they were arrested,” he said.

Ndlovu further explained that more investigations led to Williams, who on first interview, she claimed to not know of the missing couple.

“We interviewed everyone close to the couple including Zama. When we asked her about the couple, she claimed not to know anything about them and said she will pray the family find them. It was shocking how Zama was fingered when the car was found at a scrap yard, after the two suspects pointed out where Kiewit’s car was sold. The owner of the scrap up then pointed out Zama as the person who sold the car, claiming her ex-husband gave it to her. And that’s how we knew she was involved in the killing of the couple,” he said.

After detailing all information on the arrest of the trio and the crime of ‘passion’, Ndlovu said the court should deny Zama bail.

“What Zama did was very inhuman, cruel and brazen. She knew the family was desperate, yet she told them she will help pray for the families to find the couple, while she knew very well that she killed them. This was surely premeditated and because of the cruelness nature, she doesn’t serve to be out,” he said.

The formal bail bid is set to continue on February 01, 2023.
