Tsunke Softball tournament hailed as a great success

Phera Mautloa has hailed the Bricks Tsunke Memorial Softball Tournament held in Sebokeng over the weekend as a great success.

SEBOKENG.- The tournament was held at the Saul Tsotetsi Sports Complex.

It was a great day with former and current softball administrators and players reflecting back to times when softball was one of the popular sporting codes in the communities. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Mautloa said that the tournament was a great success with six softball teams exchanging the bat for the better part of the day.

The teams that participated at this tournament were Generation, Palm Ridge, Flames, Soweto Masters, Jumpers and Diphala. Mautloa told Sedibeng Ster Sport that the tournament went well as it was played with the community and  the Tsunke family coming together to support this initiative. He also thanked those who contributed to the success of the tournament especially the sponsors such as B3, VUT, Department of Education, Gauteng Sedibeng Department of Sports and Spar to mention but few.

“It was a great day of softball and thanks to those softball teams who response positive to our invitation and make this tournament a success. I  think if it wasn’t because of those teams who honoured our invitation this tournament could not have been success. As one of the Bricks Tsunke Memorial Tournament organisers, I want to thank everyone for their contribution to the success of this tournament.”

“I must say, it was great to see former and the current softball administrators and players doing what they love most. They are still passionate about this sport and we will do everything in our powers to revive this sport. There is a need to bring back those good times when softball used to be played in our communities every weekend. This is our plan and after the tournament we had serious discussions about a way forward to revive this sport in our community,” said Mautloa.
