RATANDA – He pointed the woman with a knife and led her inside a nearby shack, where he raped her.
Following his pitiless act, he then left his cap and fled the scene of crime.
The rape victim, took the cap and showed it to her boyfriend who recognised it and proceeded to look for the owner.
He was found and taken to Heidelburg police station where he was arrested.
Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, Heidelburg police spokeswoman Constable Doris Nkosi, said the suspect threatened to stab the victim if she screamed.
“Around 04:30 in the early hours of today (Saturday), the victim was walking down Chauke street in Ratanda when she met the suspect who pulled out a knife on her and instructing the victim now to scream or he will stab her.
“The suspect closed the victim’s mouth with his hand while putting his knife on her stomach. The suspect hauled the woman to a close by shack and started raping her without a condom,” said Nkosi.
The police spokeswoman said the suspect was traced by the victims before and is detained at Heidelburg.
“The suspect is arrested and is set to appear in court soon,” she said.
