Sedibeng Ster’s best ‘Wafa Wafa’ experience

Much was said and written prior to the MTN8 Cup final with former Orlando Pirates Captain Lucky Lekgwathi being the man to have the last laugh.

VANDERBIJLPARK.- Lekgwathi predicted that his former team would be crowned the MTN8 Cup Champions.

Orlando Pirates were crowned this year’s MTN8 Cup champions after they edged Amazulu 1-0 in a mouth-watering final played at the jam-packed Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday. It took individual brilliance by a Monnapule Saleng set piece to hand Orlando Pirates the victory.  In an exclusive interview with Sedibeng Ster Sport during the MTN8 Cup tour to MooiVaal Media offices, Lekgwathi pulled no punches predicting that Pirates would be crowned the champions.

They never disappoint as they started by hammering Mamelodi Sundowns 3-0 to book their place in the final. Lekgwathi told Sedibeng Ster Sport that Orlando Pirates will go all the away to the finals and be crowned the  MTN8 Cup champions. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport after the final, Lekgwathi said he has been consistent on his predictions that his former team was going to lift up this MTN8 Cup trophy. Lekgwathi who is one of the MTN8 Cup Ambassadors, visited MooiVaal Media offices with former Kaizer Chiefs great Fabian McCarthy as part of MTN8 Cup media tour said Pirates deserved this trophy.

He told Sedibeng Ster Sport that if Pirates want to win the treble at the end of the season they must transform their MTN8 Cup performance to the league games.

“I want to believe this victory will boost the team confidence to challenge for the league title. I’m confident that these current crops of players can repeat our feat when we won the treble twice. I have no doubt that this season belongs to Orlando Pirates but the only thing that they must do, is to be consistent,” he told Sedibeng Ster Sport.
