Ayeye, police in Gauteng have launched their December operation.

VANDERBIJLPARK- And by the look of things, there will be more boots on the ground than ever before.

This is after Gauteng Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Elias said they recruited more police and received more cars on the streets.

All this was discovered during the launch of the Provincial Safer Festive Season Operations on Friday, 04, October, 2022, in Isak Steyn Stadium, Vanderbijlpark.

During the delivery of his overview of the operations, Lieutenant General Mawela assured the people in Gauteng that there will be more boots on the ground and that police visibility will be enhanced this festive season.

“More police will be deployed at the festive season hotspots that include taxi ranks, bus terminals, train stations and places of entertainment. People should expect more roadblocks, particularly on the national roads that are used as exits and entrances to the province,” he said.

The operation and intensified police presence will be seen from the 15th of October until the 31st of January next year.

“We will be intensifying our operations and crime prevention initiatives throughout the province to match the escalation of crime that we experience during the festive season period,” said Mawela.

The event was graced by the Gauteng Premier, Panyaza Lesufi and Gauteng MEC for Community Safety, Faith Mazibuko, Emfuleni Local Municipality Mayor Sipho Radebe among many others.

During the keynote address tabled by Lesufi, he said they will be deploying Heli-sized drones in different townships across Gauteng to make sure they curb the high crime during festive season.

“Each and every area in Gauteng will be under the supervision of high-definition face, recognition, motion detecting CCTVs in every corner of Gauteng,” he said.

helicopters so that each and every region in our province can have its own helicopter that can go in the sky, immediately when there is a criminal activity happening in our province,” he added.
