Ekasi designers showcase their garments through fashion library

The love of fashion brought several fashion designers from the Vaal region together during a fashion parade.

SEBOKENG – Different men and women who stiches elegant and stylish kasi clothing brands, showcased their garments during a fashion library held at Sebokeng recently.

While scores of models from in and around the country displayed different brands, designers looked in awe and satisfaction of their creations.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, hosting designer Mpho “Lazzy” Maputsoe explained the purpose of the event.

“We are having a fashion library that seeks to give local designer’s garments exposure to the public and empower them. The industry is faced with never ending challenges but we pushing ahead and this is something to be grateful for,” he said.

The 43-year-old owner of Tycoon black and Skepsele said when different designers work in their small corners alone, they are bound to not prosper.

“If we work independently, we are bound to fail. We need to come together as designers and create a conducive relationship. Working together will make us stronger and grow in the industry,” he added.

Lazzy said his brands cater for all fashion lovers in different walks of life.

“Skepsel is for local people, your kasi fashion lovers and Tycoon black is for those with elegant and classy taste,” he said.

The self-taught designer said he enrolled in fashion designing however didn’t complete but his thriving inspiration had him going on.

“Next year I am planning to opening a store to house all these local designers and open a platform to compete with well-known brands,” said Lazzy.

One of the collaborating designers from Sharpeville, Charlotte Mosia (43) said the union of designers brings her joy.

“I am super happy to see different designers coming together as one in bringing and making this fashion library happen. I for one, always loved fashion and when I failed to find work in Mechanical Engineering, I then opted to focus more in design. Today makes me really happy and wish such platforms can happen more often,” she said.

Different designers from different brands such as Ever Red, Maswidi, House of Vault showcased their cotches.
