Dlamini pushes Squash development forward

Vaal Triangle Junior Squash Development is another sporting code on rise run by a group facilitated by the Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) in conjunction with the Vaal Triangle Squash Racket Association.

VANDERBIJLPARK.-  Vaal Triangle Junior Squash together with South Africa Squash hosted a Squash development program recently with the main aim being of introducing youth, parents, and teachers to playing the game.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Hero Dlamini who is the Program Facilitator said that they have been involved in various tournaments in Johannesburg throughout the year. Dlamini also revealed to Sedibeng Ster Sport that recently they participated at the Fezile Dabi Junior Open Tournament held in Parys, Free State as part of their ongoing programs to promote this unique sporting code.

Dlamini said that the COVID-19 pandemic has made Vaal Triangle Junior Squash Development Group to ‘think outside of the box’ to progress its aim of providing a unified and standardized coaching development program to the youth of Sedibeng.

“Our focus is very broad because we also focus on administration, and the operational side organising coaching programs for schools, tournaments and exchange development programs for advanced players. We have Coaching Development Programs for new and upcoming players which will take place at Mittal Squash Courts in Vanderbijlpark from 4 November. It is a well know fact that not all of these children can play soccer or netball. We encourage parents to bring their children to be part of our structures.”

“Our aim is to make this sport popular in our community to recruit more participants from our own community. I have no doubt that in the near future Squash will be competing against those so called popular sporting codes, especially soccer. These kids really enjoy playing Squash and you can see with their response how much they enjoy this sport,” he concluded.
