Taxi boss gunned down in broad daylight!

A 49-year-old taxi boss was gunned down in a hail of bullets in Sebokeng on Thursday, 20th of October 2022, during the early hours of the morning.

SEBOKENG – The heinous crime played out on Waterdal road between Zone 10 and Lethabong flats, where the deceased is said to have arrived with two other occupants in a white Toyota Yaris.

According to eyewitnesses who spoke to Sedibeng Ster in anonymity, the murdered male was seen raising his hands on the air after exiting the vehicle.

Moments later, he was shot with a hail of bullets at point blank.

“From where I was sitting, I saw a white vehicle stopping near the railway line. The killed man raised his hands and was shot several times. The third person who was part of the occupants, ran for his life as the suspect continued to shoot shamelessly,” said the woman.

After several shots, the motor vehicle could be seen leaving the scene in high speed.

In a statement, Gauteng Provincial police spokeswoman Colonel Dimakatso Sello said police are on the look-out for suspects.

“According to reports, a white Toyota Yaris with tinted windows was seen from a distance and the occupants got out, with the victim’s hands raised up. One man allegedly started shooting at the victim while the other one ran away on foot. The shooter then drove away in a white Yaris,” she said.

Sello said the taxi owner was declared dead on the scene.

“The police request anyone who may have information about this incident to please contact their nearest police station or the Crime Stop Line 08600 10111. Anonymous tip-offs can also be reported on MySaps application which can be downloaded on any smart phone,” she said.
