Arrogance and stinking attitude is killing our football in this area!

How things have changed, and no one saw this coming even yours truly, the 'self-appointed' Minister of Sports, Touchline.

It seems that the mighty Emfuleni Local Football Association (ELFA) is fast falling and Midvaal Local Football Association (MLFA) is taking over.

Before you get confused, let me be direct, over the weekend Safa Sedibeng SAB League teams were involved in the preliminary Nedbank Cup games and guess what, two teams from Midvaal went through namely Young Pirates and Meyerton Rangers FC, with only one team from Emfuleni making it through to the semi-finals of the preliminary Nedbank Cup games. Real Heart FC from Lesedi Local Football Association (LLFA) is also part of the semi-finals but the once mighty Emfuleni, which dominated the SAB League has only one representative in the competition.

How, so?

It is not a secret that the ELFA has a greater number of teams in the Safa Sedibeng SAB League compared to other LFAs but  having only one team in the preliminary semi-final of the Nedbank Cup is embarrassing. Two teams from Meyerton? What  does this mean for our football especially in Emfuleni as the largest municipality in this region?  There is a serious need to do some introspection as this is a big concern to TOUCHLINE . However, there is a saying that says: “it is not about numbers”. The problem is that people have stopped playing football in Emfuleni, they are now playing the man, and this are the consequences of this. The cracks are start to show and something must be done urgently to save football in Emfuleni.

Really, two teams from Meyerton in the preliminary semi-finals of the Nedbank Cup? Please don’t miss understand me, TOUCHLINE doesn’t suggest that there is no football in Meyerton. No, my only concern is that Emfuleni has a lot more number of teams compared to other LFAs. TOUCHLINE, knows that a particular somebody is going to say, “Nale doesn’t know what he is talking about”. But statistics are there for everyone to see! To make it worse, Young Pirates FC has just been promoted to the Safa Sedibeng SAB League and boom they are in the semi-finals as you read this.

This means that a change of power is taking place with Midvaal taking over the dominance of our football, leaving Emfuleni officials with egg all over their faces. Emfuleni football administrators must drink their own medicine, or should I say their own ‘poison’? They never saw this coming because they thought they were in control. It is not a secret that the number of participating teams in the Emfuleni’s Super League is not going to be the same with some teams deciding not to participate in the league, for reasons known to them.

Arrogance, and stinking attitude is killing our football in this area!
