“It is starting to get hot in the kitchen!”: EFF

The Sedibeng District Municipality (SDM) has filed an appeal against the decision by the Johannesburg High Court to have the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) continue with its ‘motion of no confidence’ in SDM Executive Mayor, Lerato Maloka.

SEDIBENG.- The motion of no confidence was supposed to have been raised last week by the EFF at an SDM Council Sitting. Sedibeng Ster reported last week that the EFF welcomed an earlier outcome of the Johannesburg High Court ruling that granted it a right to pass ‘a motion of no confidence’ against Maloka recently.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, last week, EFF Sedibeng Regional Chairperson, Isaac Khitika said that the party, through its fighters deployed in the SDM Council, had brought the refusal of the SDM speaker to entertain the already tabled motion before the Johannesburg High Court on an urgent basis.

“We appreciate the work done by the people’s attorneys for filling and arguing a solid case,” said Khitika.

On the appeal, the SDM said that having studied the Court Order, the respondents, as cited in the matter, have exercised their rights, and appealed the Court Order.

“It therefore stands that the matter is sub judice (under judicial consideration and therefore prohibited from public discussion).”
