TOUCHLINE’s heart-to-heart conversation with Mkhabela

TOUCHLINE had a heart-to-heart conversation with Safa Sedibeng President Solly Mkhabela following a series of articles recently published by Sedibeng Ster Sport about the outcome of Arbitration.

SEDIBENG.- This was more on personal engagement, wanting to know his future plans for this region. It was an half an hour discussion trying to make TOUCHLINE to understand his position as the Safa President not to interfere with the association’s day-to-day running of the organisation especially in the case of the league in this case, SAB League.

TOUCHLINE can confirm that Mkhabela has been in control until this Arbitration outcome, he has been helping the cash-strapped Safa Sedibeng from his own pocket to pay prize monies for the SAB League teams among other things.

However, TUOCHLINE wouldn’t know this if it wasn’t of this much publicised Arbitration outcome which put this region on national spotlight. Mkhabela is not new in football unlike other Safa Sedibeng administrators because he has been there and done it during his time with Orange Vaal Professional and Swallows FC and this clearly shows his experience as a football administrator regardless of his position in football. What could have gone wrong is that he was  let down by the people he trusted to carry their responsibilities. TOUCHLINE does understand that, as a leader your responsibility is to appoint people who will carry certain responsibilities, but they failed, or I should say they failed him. Obvious, as the head of the organisation he, Mkhabela, is the one to be blame for all these mess caused by those he trusted. His conversation with TOUCHLINE was not necessarily to try and defend himself but to paint a clear picture as a leader, without defending himself.

Without being biased, he makes sense to TOUCHLINE what could have gone wrong, and why after all these years. This incident was the first of its kind to happen that Safa Sedibeng is not represented in the Gauteng Provincial Play-offs. Mkhabela’s view on this matter makes sense why after all these years this happened, taking into consideration this happened prior to regional elections. There are lot of questions to be asked with no clear answers, but as the region we can’t cry over spilt milk to say the least.

The question is where to from here?, to avoid history repeating itself.

TOUCHLINE’s message to those teams that want to table a vote of no confidence in the leadership of the region is that they must first establish their facts and ask themselves where they were getting their prize monies. It means if it wasn’t for Mkhabela the teams wouldn’t get their prizes at some point. Like TOUCHLINE said, these are some of the things we wouldn’t know about unless somebody told us about them, like Mkhabela did. Again, TOUCHLINE wouldn’t know about the appointment of Safa Sedibeng Regional CEO, Beauty Molise as the Head of Gauteng Provincial Women Football Committee if it wasn’t of these article Sedibeng Ster Sport carried about the state affair of our football in this region.

The problem with our region is that there is not proper communication between Safa Sedibeng and media houses . There is no one who communicates with media in events like these and as the media we look as if we don’t do our job. The fact of MATTER is that we are not aware of some of the positive developments that are taking place in this region because somebody doesn’t see necessity to tell us about them.

Safa Sedibeng must consider having someone who will update the media about what is taking place in this region now and then.
