Bafana Bafana out of CHAN next year

Bafana Bafana are out of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) after suffering a 6-1 hammering in aggregate score by Angola.

SEDIBENG.- This was after suffered 4-1 to Angola in the return leg played at Dobsonville Stadium over the weekend.

This was a must win game for Bafana Bafana after they suffered a 2-0 defeat to Angola in a away game. Former Bafana Bafana midfielder, Helman Mkhalele was in charge of the new look team in the absence of Coach Hugo Broos. Bafana Bafana started the game like a house on fire, in search of an early goal and they were rewarded for their hard work.

However, they surrendered their lead when Mamelodi Sundowns defender, Mosa Lebusa scored an own goal with a header in an attempt to clear the ball. At this stage Bafana Bafana had to score three goals without the visitors finding the back of the net. It was a mountain to climb for Coach Helman Mkhalele who made changes in the second half hoping to turn things around. Sebokeng based sensational Sabelo “Bibo” Radebe was among the players who were brought in to change the game, but it was not to be with Angola extending the lead. Speaking after the game Mkhalela said they lost the game in Angola when they suffered a 2-0 defeat. He said Angola came here to defend their first leg lead and catch Bafana Bafana on counter attack.

“Our game plan was to score early goal which we did but we conceded a goal which made things even difficult for us. We were chasing the game and made a lot of errors in the process, which resulted in those goals. At this time, we had to choose but to take the game to our opponents in search of an equaliser,” he concluded.
