Banyana Banyana squad to face Brazil

Banyana Banyana Coach Desiree Ellis has named a 23-member squad to play two international friendly matches against Brazil on 2 and 5 September.

SEDIBENG.- The first game is scheduled to take place at Orlando Stadium with SAFA to make announcements about where the second game will take place.

These two international friendly matches are part of Banyana Banyana’s preparations for the FIFA Women’s World Cup. Speaking to the media, Ellis said she was satisfied with the kind of opponents that her team will play against. She said she couldn’t have asked for better opponents like these, with Brazil regarded as the power houses of women’s football. She was also full of praise for both SAFA and Sasol for organising such a high profile international friendly match against Brazil.

However, Ellis was forced to make some changes to the team that won the Women’s African Cup Of Nations for various reasons.

“Look we are grateful for SAFA and Sasol for organising such opponents to have a decent preparation against the best women football nation, Brazil. This will give us direction especially since this will be our first game after WAFCON. Some of the changes are forced changes with some of the key players out with injuries but we have equally good players to replace them. We are all excited with the quality of the opponents we will be playing against,” said Ellis.
