ANC Sedibeng Chairperson to take over mayoral position?

VEREENIGING.- Rumour has it that there is a possibility for the erecntly elected African National Congress (ANC) Regional Chairperson of Sedibeng , Thulani ‘The Little Napoleon’ Kunene taking over the leadership of the Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) from the current mayor, Sipho Radebe.
Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, Kunene said: ” We have capable mayors who are doing their best to turn things around.My role is to support the three mayors from Sedibeng District, Lesedi and Emfuleni local municipalities. We will work with them to make Sedibeng a better place.There are unfortunately no short cuts to fixing problems of the municipalities”, said Kunene.
However, rumours making rounds in the ELM corridors has it that there’s a possibility that that soon Kunene might be sworn in as the executive mayor at either the the Sedibeng District Municipality (SDM) or ELM. Approached for comment, the regional ANC Spokesperson, Velile Mkhontwana said that primary objective of the recently elected Regional Executive Committee (REC) was to rebuild the organisation, strengthen its structures and grow its membership preparing for the 2024 general elections.
“The ANC has no intention to effect any changes, except working together with people deployed,” he said.
