Onslaught on Metsimaholo municipality essential infrastructure

An onslaught is being waged against the Metsimaholo municipal assets and infrastructure.

SASOLBURG.- More that ten suspects were apprehended and charged for the malicious damages to essential infrustrature.

The Executive Mayor of Metsimaholo Councillor Jeff Zwane said the municipality is worried of a new method of cutting electrical poles and vandalismis being unleashed. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster in his office on 29 August, the Mayor said that within 7 months the municipality has lost R1.9 million  due to cable copper theft. The recent vandalism took place inside the Zamdela cemetery. At the time security arrived they were met with electric poles that had been cut down. The Mayor said he suspects sabotage in all this.

“We humble ourselves to the community to help share information that can help identify, make more arrests to prosecute those involved.”
