FCS unit makes strides in getting justice for GBV victims

The Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) continues to make strides in getting  justice for victims of a sexual offences and gender-based violence (GBV) through securing harsh convictions.

GAUTENG.  – Police Spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Sello says, “FCS is a specialised unit with the key objective of protecting the rights and dignity of victims of abuse as a result of domestic violence, sexual offences, child abuse and harassment through ensuring that perpetrators of such heinous crimes face the might of the law.

“For the past week from 15 August 2022 to date, the units throughout the province have secured five life sentences and 148 years imprisonment collectively for perpetrators.”

Sello states that convictions are as a result of dedication and commitment by members of FCS who not only investigate cases but also conduct awareness campaigns throughout the province with the aim of educating the public about sexual offences.

” This encourages the public not to look away but rather break the silence by reporting such incidents as it is the social responsibility of every individual to protect women, children and elderly people within our communities.”

Members of the public are urged to report criminal activities at the nearest police station, on Crime Stop at 08600 10111 or anonymously via MySaps app.

“All information received will be treated as strictly confidential,” Sello concludes.
