On your mark, get set, ready and GO!

The DStv Premier Soccer League is in full swing with some mixed results, and unlike last season there are some new surprises with Amazulu and TS Galaxy finding themselves at the summit of the log.

SEDIBENG.-  Who had thought these two would be leading the log as things stand? To make it worse, the defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns started the season on an average performance. This is an interesting season because Sundowns would always be at the top from the beginning until the end of the season.

What does this mean?

This means that other teams have managed to get their signings right, bringing in some quality players. For example, both Amazulu and TS Galaxy made some interesting signings and now they are rewarded. It is a case of: “On your mark, get set, ready and GO! or is it a case of game on? The truth is that, no one saw this coming with Sundowns having already tasted defeat against the same TS Galaxy and playing to a 1-1 draw against Sekhukhune United over the weekend. This might be a disappointing result for Sundowns with all the qualities they possess. They instill fear in many tears including their rivalries, Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates.

For the past ten years Sundowns have been dominating the PSL but it seems this will come to an end with the likes of Amazulu and TS Galaxy making their intentions clear. However, the likes of Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates seem to be meaning business this season. It is a case of some teams saying: “Enough is enough” with Mamelodi Sundowns not only dominating domestic football but also continental football.
However, it seems is if this has come to an end! Some of the teams have raised their game this season to make this league more competitive to say the least. This is good for South African football to see other teams challenging the free-spending Mamelodi Sundowns. For too long now Sundowns have had no competition in the PSL, season after season they are like a moving train.

At one stage somebody had to stop this moving training!

But having said this, you write off Mamelodi Sundowns at your own risk because they are such an unpredicted team especially when you think they are dead and buried. The truth is that Sundowns have the best players in the world and if there is anyone who undermines them, they are making a grave mistake. Like I said before, this is good for South African football. Kaizer Chiefs seems to be on the right track now compared to the previous seasons!

I am taking a seat and watching this movie unfold!
