SEBOKENG.- The election took place at Sebokeng Hostel over the weekend.
The meeting was held to elect the new committee that will run Vaal Legends’ day to day affairs with the main aim being to assistant to improve the standard, and development of football in Sedibeng. Some of the former greats who are part of the Vaal Legends committee are former Jomo Cosmos goalkeeper Avril Phali, Pitso Lekone and Solomon Mathe with Malefu ‘Cheese’ Moloadi being the only women in the committee. Some of the former great who formed part of this group even though they are not part of committee include former Bafana Bafana Captain Aaron ‘Mbazo’ Mokoena, Joseph ‘China’ Masondo, Steve ‘Chippa’ Lekoelea, Phiri Tsotetsi, Bennet Chenene and Peter Khoabane to mention but few. Some of these former greats are also part of the South African Masters and Legends Football Association (SAMLFA).
Sedibeng Ster veteran sports journalist, Zacharia Nale (pictured below), was elected as the Secretary for his involvement in the community especially the development of football in this country.
These former greats have also been invited to be part of the Jazz By The River program to play against former soccer greats from Soweto
