ORANGE FARM. – Mohlanka is accused of killing Mzwandile Zitho (5) Simphiwe Mgcina (6), Mpho Makondo (8) in 2020. The deaths of the three kids sparked outrage in the Orange Farm area, with many calling for justice to be served in the matter.
The family together with members of the community have called for three life terms to be handed down to Mohlanka.
Mpho’s grandmother Morginah Malatji says, “As much as they are saying she should be given a lenient sentence because she is a parent, we have also been affected. Mpho wanted to be a teacher and was robbed of his future by this woman. These are three premeditated murders and she deserves to get life for each murder respectively.
“We are not coping, as families we never received counselling. This is very painful for us and to learn how she carried out the murders makes matters worse. Getting life won’t bring the kids back but justice will be served.”
The families said Mohlanka did not deserve to live among the community. Mohlanka will be handed down her sentence on 13 September at the Palm Ridge Magistrate Court in Katlehong.
