Man arrested following robbery at Sebokeng petrol station

The police have arrested an African male following a business robbery at a filling station in Sebokeng.

SEBOKENG.- The incident happened on Saturday evening.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Thembeka Maxambela reports that police received a complaint of a robbery in progress and rushed to the scene.

Maxambela says, “A cashier on duty informed the police that a man wearing a black mask came behind the till and showed her a gun which was placed on his waist.

“The suspect assaulted the cashier with an open hand and ordered her to open the till.

“The other suspects also came in, assaulted the second cashier and instructed her to open the till.

“Both tills were emptied and  about five suspects fled the scene on foot in the hostel direction. One suspect was apprehended by a petrol attendant who chased after the suspects.”

An undisclosed amount of money was seized from the filling station. Police have launched a business robbery case docket for further investigation.
