Dozens of bystanders watched as the man was covered in a foil after medics declared him dead.
A passer-by who refused to be named, who discovered the gruesomely burnt person said she was taking a child to a nearby Creche when she was called by another person to help.
“Around half 8 I was taking my child to a day care when a man who was picking up cans in the bush called me to come and help him to identify if it’s a body of a person or what. We identified the body as that of a person because the skull was next to the charcoal bottom body. We can see with a tight that wasn’t badly burnt,” she said.
“When we asked around, locals said there was a massive fire in the evening and they thought people were burning garbage as always,” added the eyewitness.
Close residents said there was a massive fire last night which they suspect the victim was burnt in.
“We normally pass here to the side of the highway and there was never a body here. We suspect maybe the person was killed somewhere and burnt here because there was a huge fire, we could see from inside our houses but didn’t bother to come out,” said another eyewitness.
While the Ster team was at the scene, several families approached the scene demanding to look at the body as they claim they have missing family members.
Evaton Police officers are at the scene to investigate.
