The university posted a statement on Tuesday on its social media platforms alerting its prospective students that no second semester admissions are opened.
Future students of the institution are advised to verify space for admission through the varsity’s website.
The bogus memorandum dated 11 July 2022 was attached on the post and read “Dear Vaal University of Technology previously rejected applicants; we are please to inform you that there is availability of space for 2nd semester in different fields of study”.
The varsity’s management removed itself from the memorandum and urged students to visit the website for verified information of applications.
“VUT Management is aware of the attached fake memorandum dated 11 July 2022 informing prospective students/previously rejected applicants of the availability of space in the 2nd semester of 2022. We urge all students to visit the VUT website on www.vut.ac.za for information on applications for 2023 academic year. Furthermore, all prospective, current, and former students should visit the VUT website to verify all official communication that is communicated by the institution,” read the statement.
