Police combat crime in De Deur through operation

Sedibeng District Police Stations in partnership with other stakeholders on Friday held operation Okae Molao in De Deur.

DE DEUR. – The objective of the operation was to clamp down on crime in the area.  Sedibeng District Commissioner Major General Zodwa Molefe adressed the parade held at Walkerville Spar.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Maria Letsele says, “The Operation started with a roadblock on the R82 and led to a high density operation in Williers Farm, Ramaphosa, Rus-ter-vaal, Savanna City as well as part of De Deur plots to address murders, hijackings and house robberies.”

Letsele reports that during the operation, 54 vehicles were  stopped and searched, 151 people were  searched,10 vehicles tested, 10 liquor outlets visited, seven businesses premises and 12 residences were searched.

” Police managed to close an illegal shebeens and subsequently and also visited 11 filling stations and 6 ATMs.”

Letsele adds that a total of 22 people were arrested for various crimes during the operation.

“All arrested persons will appear at Vereeniging Magistrate Court on Monday.”
