Murderer sentenced
A foreign national, Tankiso Seona (38) was sentenced to 15 years in prison for murder in the Sasolburg Magistrate’s Court on May 25.
SASOLBURG.- The court heard that police were called to Mooidraai on October 10, 2021 at around 07:12. Police spokeswoman, Sergeant Josephine Rani said the police responded to a complaint and found an African female, later identified as Masetjhaba Gladys Rakaki (38), dead in a shack.
Police received information that the deceased was last seen the previous day with her boyfriend, Tankiso, around 23:25. Apparently Tankiso tried to borrow a wheelbarrow claiming that he wanted to carry Masetjhaba home because she was drunk. He was assisted to carry Masetjhaba home. Later that night Tankiso went back to the neighbour’s house to collect his phone. The neighbor noticed that Tankiso’s hands were full of blood. The investigating officer, Detective Sergeant Malefu Nthao managed to arrest the suspect in Taaibos.
The suspect was waiting for a friend to give him money to travel back to Lesotho.
