Sedibeng Netball Federations raises funds for U/19

It was a busy weekend for Sedibeng Netball Federation in an attempt to raise funds for the Sedibeng U/19 Netball team at the Evaton Mall over the weekend.

EVATON.- The Sedibeng Netball U/19 team is scheduled to participate at the Telkom Netball Junior National Championships set to take place at the General Hertzog High School in Witbank from 10-15 July.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Sedibeng Netball Federation’s  Ntombifuthi Khambule said that the purpose of this fund raising was to raise funds for those athletes who can’t afford to pay the money for accommodation and attire among other things. Khambule said that they have had to ask the community to help the Sedibeng U/19 Team because it is well known that the organisation doesn’t have a sponsorship and they depend on donations. She thanks the members of the community especially those who made an effort to contribute something on the day.

“I wish to take this opportunity to thank everyone who contributed something and those who still want to do so are welcomed because we still have time even though not enough. We will continue to engage the community to help because most of our players are from the very disadvantage backgrounds,” she said.

Sedibeng Netball Federation President, Fakazile Nkitseng was part of this fund-raising project and she told Sedibeng Ster Sport that in a space of two hours they managed to raise an amount of R 1 453. She told Sedibeng Ster Sport that each player is expected to pay R 2 400 for accommodation.She was full of compliments for the community for showing that they care about these youngsters.

“It was a humble experience to see those members of community were prepared to help even those who didn’t have money they gave us moral support. As the Sedibeng Netball Federation President, from the bottom of my heart I want to thank them for their effort even though there is still a long way to go before we reach our intended target. We encourage the community to come forward especially those in business in our community,” she concluded.
