Netball sensation needs your help

Palesa Bongo (18) has been selected to represent Sedibeng Netball at the at the at the Telkom Junior National Champions scheduled to be hosted by Nkangala Netball District at General Hertzog High School in Witbank from 10-15 July.

EVATON.- This annual netball championship will take place under the auspices of Netball South Africa and all the regions will be represented. However, the biggest challenge for the young star is how to raise the amount of R49 000 for accommodation, food, track suit and a warm up top.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, this Tsoelopele Netball Club sensation pleaded to the Sedibeng community to come to her rescue to help to raise the above mentioned amount before the said date. She told Sedibeng Ster Sport that it has always been her dream to represent the region in this netball championship to showcase her talent at the biggest stage.

“I’m looking forward to these championships and it will be the first time I will be playing in the national championships. I don’t know how I’m going to raise that amount, but I trust and believe that the Sedibeng community will help me to realise my dreams to participate at this national championships. This is a lifetime opportunity for me to market myself in the biggest stage for the selectors to see my talent. I appeal to the Good Samaritans to help me so that I can represent my region and help them to come home with a trophy.”

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Sedibeng Netball Federation President, Fakazile Nketsing said the organisation does not have sponsors and that they rely on fundraisings from tournaments to assist their members, in this case, the players.

“This is a great opportunity for the player to participate in this prestigious tournament where they can also be selected to represent the South Africa National team. We make a humble appeal from our community especially companies and businesses to come forward to assist athletes in their areas,” she said.

Meanwhile, Nkitseng said that transport will be provided by the Gauteng Department of Sports.
