AMSA appoints new Chairman

The ArcelorMittal South Africa (AMSA) Board appointed Bonang Mohale as Chairman of the Board after shareholders approved his appointment as a non-executive director at the company’s AGM recently.

VANDERBIJLPARK.-  AMSA said that Mohale brings a wealth of experience in business strategy, leadership and governance, which are all fundamental to leading ArcelorMittal South Africa in its next phase of growth and transformation.

Mohale is the President of Business Unity South Africa (BUSA), Chancellor of the University of the Free State, Professor of Practice in the Johannesburg Business School (JBS) College of Business and Economics, Chairman of both Bidvest Group Limited and SBV Services. He is also the author of the bestselling books such as “Lift As You Rise’ and “Behold The Turtle!”. Additionally, shareholders approved the appointment of Abe Thebyane as a non-executive director. Thebyane currently serves on the board of AVI Group as the Lead Independent Director and chairs the Remuneration Committee. He has vast experience in the field of human resources in both the mining and banking industries. The Board bid farewell to two directors, Mpho Makwana and Nomavuso Mnxasana, who retired by rotation at the AGM.
