DE DEUR. – Police spokesperson Sergeant Maria Letsele reports that De Deur police were conducting stop and searches in Williersfarm Majazana.
“The officers on duty stopped a white Toyota Hilux with two African males and three African females. Constable Lekgoba stopped the vehicle.”
Letsele reports that when the vehicle stopped, police tactically approached the vehicle and heard a gun going off.
” One African male together with the three females jumped out of the vehicles. The male fled the scene but was caught and arrested by police.
When police got to the the car, they saw that the other male occupant had sustained a gunshot wound. The man was searched and the firearm was found in his possession.
Letsele says the gun went off whe the man tried to remove it from his possession.
“Both African males were arrested and charged with possession of illegal firearm and ammunition.”
The suspects will appear in court soon.
