SEDIBENG. – The session is also meant to discuss challenges and come up with possible solutions in addressing crime within the precinct.
While on a visit at De Deur police station this week, Mazibuko stated that her office had received concerns from residents regarding the kind of service they receive from the station.
“Service delivery is at the center of what you do here. We would like to find out how many vehicles you have and what the turnaround time is in responding to incidents.”
The MEC was told that most police vehicles are at SAPS garage for repairs.
Mazibuko then visited the Powerville SAPS garage in Vereeniging to check why the vehicles were not released on time.
On arrival, Mazibuko discovered that most vehicles are there because of minor issues ranging from tyres, brake pads, ignition problems and expired license discs amongst others.
The affected police stations that had their cars in the garage were Sebokeng, De Deur, Meyerton, Vaalmarina, Evaton, Barage and Boipatong.
