Young and old participate in a Fun Walk

“I want to take this opportunity to thank the community members who responded positively to the event."

SHARPEVILLE.-  The Sharpeville community, young and old, came in numbers to participate at the Fun Walk organised by the Gauteng Department Of Sports, Arts, Cultures and Recreation held at Exhibition Centre recently.

The event was co-ordinated by Expanded Public Works Programme’s (EPWP) Boitumelo Mphotulo as part of her training to organise a community event. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Mphotulo said that the main objective of the event was to bring unity amongst the Sharpeville community.

She hailed the event as a great success with the Sharpeville community coming in numbers to support this initiative which was aimed at uniting  the community.  “I want to take this opportunity to thank the community members who responded positively to the event.  I also want to thank the support of my colleagues who advised me how to organise this event. They contributed a lot to the success of this event with their ideas. It was mission accomplished for seeing the members of community walk side by side, supporting and motivating each other and it was very encouraging. These are some of the projects that must be organised on a regular basis within our community. There is a serious need of such programs in our community. Once again, I want to thank everyone who contributed to the success of this event especially those who contributed something,” she said.

There were prizes for individuals in the form of medals for those tops.
