Pirates player rushed to hospital

"It should be noted that medical emergency personnel took some time before Mako was lifted into the ambulance as the driver of the ambulance was nowhere to be found."

SEDIBENG.-  It was an ugly scene when Orlando Pirates defender, Paseka Mako collided with his goalkeeper Richard Ofori in the goalless Baroka versus Pirates game in the DStv Premier League at New Peter Mokaba Stadium last night.

Both teams’ players looked emotional especially Orlando Pirates players with Ofori in tears. The game was live on SS 202 and viewers and soccer fans who were at the stadium witnessed this ugly scene.

Both Orlando Pirates and Baroka players must be complimented for their sportsmanship when they gathered around Mako who seemed unconscious as it took medical emergency personnel more than 10 minutes to stabilise him before they rushing him to hospital. It should be noted that medical emergency personnel took some time before Mako was lifted into the ambulance as the driver of the ambulance was nowhere to be found. This was embarrassing for PSL brand as the game was live on SuperSport Football Channels and Orlando Pirates officials were frustrated with soccer fans looking upset. The PSL is expected to make a statement regarding this incident because somebody could have lost his life due to the delay of medical emergency.

Sedibeng Ster Sport will follow this story and will report on the new developments.

Sedibeng Ster Sport wishes Mako a speedy recovery.
