Khoza gets 19 years imprisonment for robbery, house-breaking and theft

The Vereeniging Magistrate Court recently handed down a 19 year prison term to Mangaliso Khoza on charges of robbery, house-breaking and theft.

VEREENIGING. – Following the conviction, Sharpeville SAPS Acting Station Commander Colonel Stophina Mofokeng applauded the hard work of Detective Sergeant Mandla Malinga.

Malinga is said to have worked tirelessly on both investigations that implicated now convicted Khoza in house-breaking, robbery and theft incidents.

Police spokesperson Busisiwe Sango says, “Khoza was sentenced to 19 years direct imprisonment by the Vereeniging Magistrate Court for armed robbery, house breaking and theft.

“In 2020-05-31 at about 14:30, a case of armed robbery was reported by a complainant who was walking behind Vuka Primary School towards Pick n Pay Bedworthpark together with his friend when they were approached by the suspect.

Khoza seized their cellphones and R400.00 cash at gun point. The suspect was later arrested and detained at Sharpeville.

“In the second incident, Sango reports that a case of house breaking and theft was reported on 2020-04-09 at about 03:00 where the Khoza gained entry into residential premises using a garden fork and took property belonging to the complainant.

“Fingerprints were taken at the scene and results came back and placed Mangaliso Khoza at the scene. “This corroborated the statement of the witness that indeed Khoza was the suspect of house breaking and theft on the day.

“Both cases were linked together and assigned to Malinga who worked tirelessly to investigate both cases and prove Khoza’s guilt beyond reasonable doubt.”

Mofokeng welcomed the sentencing and thanked the member for his diligent work.
